LEN

Len Waghom was born in
Greenwich in 1927 and can remember when, aged about 5, the family
doctor Dr. Argo gave him a shilling for a drawing he did of the Doctor
on a piece of his grandfather's plywood.
After an engineering apprenticeship and national service in the RAF as
an engine mechanic, he was employed by the Tothill Street Press as a
technical illustrator, eventually returning as a draughtsman,
designer, chief draughtsman at various firms in SE London, Kent and
Surrey until retirement in 1992.
Between 1951-1969 he was a member of the original design team for the
first electronic Pilot's Head Up Display (HUD) equipment installed in
the Blackburn Buccaneer & Hawker Harrier aircraft.
