I enjoy painting and drawing - more as a hobby than anything else. The majority of my work has been done in the last 3 years which is when I really began learning to paint.

The roots of my inspiration come from artists such as Lucian Fraud and Frank Auerbach; among others. I am very interested in expressionism as I like the idea of trying to capture the subject. I also like the way the Expressionists often see so much more to paint and portray other than the physical attributes of what they are painting. So far I haven't really managed to emulate any of these characteristics in my work, but I am trying!

An artist who has inspired me recently is Grayson Perry; I love the idea of telling a story through artwork. When you look at his work it feels like you are getting a peek into some fantastical land that exists somewhere out there. I came across another artist on the web recently who I think does a similar sort of thing in her work. You should take a look at Caroline Folkenroths work.
