NEWSLETTER

SUMMER 2009

Hi everyone.  As you know I have long been involved with the What if…? Gallery in Dartford, working to keep Art alive and accessible to all. I suppose it was only a matter of time before it happened, but we have been burgled and our hard-earned donations for a lap-top computer have been stolen (£320). Luckily the Police caught the robber and he is now in prison but we did not recover the 2 stolen paintings or any of the cash. We also had to pay for new locks and keys and repairs to the front door.

Update - both paintings have now been returned to the gallery!

Meanwhile as Dartford Art Group we will be at the Festival in Central Park on Saturday and Sunday 18th and 19th July and hope you will all help out as in previous years. Please contact Ruth to sign up.

Nigel has kindly offered to do our annual audit of Accounts for us. Thank you Nigel.

Please come to the AGM and show your support for all that we do.

Take care

 Introduction from the editor/secretary:

Hi everyone.  As you know, I work as a volunteer at the What if…? Gallery in Dartford,  we are holding a one-day Tabletop sale on Easter Saturday (11th April 09) to raise funds. I hope you might be able to pop in and support us. Also we, as Dartford Art Group belong to the Society for All Artists (SAA) – this organisation provides Public Liability insurance cover for us and because of that, we have access to buying a variety of Art Materials which are offered at discount prices. If anyone is interested please ask me for details.

Take care

You may remember last year we had a great time encouraging children to paint acrylic on canvas. It was such a success. So please help by attending this year and demonstrate y0ur painting techniques or you could supervise children and show them how to use the medium. Lets work together. It’s very rewarding.

This newsletter is dedicated to the memory of Brenda Clark who died on Christmas Day 2008. Those who knew her will know she was a kind and dear friend who helped our Art Group so much with auditing our accounts each year and supporting us in our activities. She will be sadly missed by us all.

ADULT EDUCATION CENTRE

Apologies for the missed sessions at the beginning of the September term - but the new building is now up and running - as you know the art room is not very big and we do not have a cupboard to store our equipment in, and we cannot make our own tea and coffee any more but we continue to make the best of a bad thing.
