Daniel Becker
My abstract work has always been centred around colour & manipulation of
real life scenes that are in front of me, whether still life or outdoor
panoramas.
My starting point for compositions is usually based on realistic objects
that I distort & interpret in ways that manipulate the subject matter. I
like people to be able to recognise the objects in my compositions but
only after a brief period of confusion. This period of thought lets people
decide whether they like the qualities of my expression, as opposed to the
qualities of the objects that I have painted.
As a practicing product and graphic designer, my artwork gives me the
opportunity to be totally free with my expression, detached from the usual
constraints of a professional brief.
